Deep in the heart of southern Cambodia, it's hot. Really hot.
Not only does the sun leave an ugly burn but it peels paint off
antiquated motorbikes. Water evaporates in a blink. It's not a
place for climbers. Someone should have told that to Tim Walther,
Josh Morris, Jon Siegrist, and Ryan Ernst… Fielding's “The
World's Most Dangerous Places” gives Cambodia a five-star
rating – its worst… And Cambodia has a tortured political
history -- three decades of genocidal corruption that culminated
in the 1975 "Killing Fields" of the despot Pol Pot…
So why climb here? In fact, why even visit? Well, for 5.8X climbing
up the 1,488-foot granite slab of Phnom Bei Sambao, of course…
Look for Climbing Magazine this September and check back at Grand
Dynamics for more details! Check out the President’s Blog
of the trip here or Spirit of Mokwai sample photos.
