Climbing the Grand Teton roped to your boss? Rafting
the white-water rapids of the Snake River with the guy who works
in the next cubicle?
Don’t
discount the idea.
Corporate clients of Grand Dynamics, founded by Tim Walther ’94,
have enjoyed these challenges and an array of other corporate
team-building programs. Tim, whose IC degree is in applied business
psychology, earned a master’s in experiential education
from Minnesota State University. Equipped with that education
and years of experience as an avid rock climber and mountaineer,
he launched Grand Dynamics in 1998.

Based in rugged Jackson Hole, Wyoming, the company offers experiential
training and development, specializing in health and wellness
programs, business consulting, and corporate retreats. Programs
range from seminars and guest speakers in clients’ home
offices to retreats and conferences held outdoors or at conference
centers to major backcountry adventures preceded by months of
training.
Will
Leggett ’06 recently completed a 480-hour internship with
Grand Dynamics, capping his degree in recreation management. “During
my time [in Jackson Hole] I learned everything from how to budget
expenses to how to set up a Tyrolean traverse over a 300-foot
canyon,” he says. “The best experiences were the multi-day
retreats, where you could really see how the process helped individuals
grow as a team.” It was such a great experience for all
involved that Will is joining the ranks of Grand Dynamics representatives
and facilitators. He is founding his own branch, based in Middlebury,
Vermont, and will be responsible for selling, coordinating, and
delivering programs throughout New England.
