Stephen
Koch
Stephen Koch has called Jackson Hole home for over 19 years.
During that time Stephen lived in New York City, Chamonix, France
and has been fortunate to have traveled extensively for over 10
years as a professional athlete. Stephen is a motivational speaker
who loves sharing his tales of adventure and survival from his
trips in the Tetons and beyond. He is a climber, snowboarder and
mountain guide and a pioneer in the field of Snowboard Mountaineering,
a term he coined. His list of alpine ascents and descents include
some of the most notable firsts anywhere in the world, most of
which have never been repeated. He has been a senior Exum Mountain
Guide for sixteen years, and is the first person to snowboard
the Grand Teton and all the major Teton Peaks. Stephen is the
first and only person to snowboard on all Seven Summits, the highest
peak on each continent. After surviving a near fatal avalanche
high in the Tetons, Stephen started the Avalanche Awareness Foundation
(www.avalancheawareness.org),
a non-profit organization dedicated to educating young backcountry
users about the dangers of avalanches. Stephen was the Wyoming
State Road Bike Champion Runner Up in 2004. In addition to snowboarding,
skiing, mountaineering, road and mountain biking, Stephen most
loves spending time with his wife and baby son.
