Amazing Race in Atlanta
This event technology service company company wanted to take their annual global leadership meeting to the next level with a unique, compelling and active team event which featured the local attractions of Atlanta, Georgia. Other objectives included bringing to life their meeting themes, reinforcing company values and infusing technology. Our solution incorporated the GDI programming into an event-specific app, and customizing the program and activities to anchor the memories and transfer the learning.
Why do we participate in team building events? In the video above, Grand Dynamics President Tim Walther shares insights about the purpose of an “Amazing Race Adventure” and how to transfer concepts back to the workplace. The common theme is that the activities, while novel, distinct, dramatic and metaphoric are certainly fun and energizing for participants, ITS NOT ABOUT THE ACTIVITIES THEMSELVES.
Team challenges, such as forming a human arrow, playing the drums with a street performer, riding a ferris wheel or creating a song about your company’s dream, are metaphors which have a deeper, and often intentionally subconscious, meaning. A carefully designed experiential learning program for corporate meetings and events will consider these elements and align them with the most important elements that the meeting is designed to reinforce.
This video and speech by Grand Dynamics President explains this insight, celebrates the process and value of shared experiences and how to BRING IT BACK and transfer those ideas to the workplace.
